Job Description:

Are you a human resources professional looking to join an organization with a collaborative, supportive, and team-oriented culture? The Weitz Company is hiring a Human Resources (HR) Specialist to support immigration, international transfers, and employee mobility programs. This role partners closely with candidates, managers, relocation vendors, immigration counsel, and the HR team, to deliver a seamless experience while ensuring compliance with immigration, employment and internal process requirements.

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate employment-based immigration processes, including visa sponsorships, initiation of new visa cases, and compliance requirements
  • Serve as a key point of contact for employment-based immigration related matters to internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitate employee relocations and international transfers relocating to, or within, the United States, to include preparation of memos and coordinating with employees and the relocation vendor
  • Maintain immigration records and tracking systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal processes
  • Monitor work authorization expiration dates and coordinate timely renewals with employees, managers, and immigration counsel
  • Coordinate immigration case preparation and review with HR Leadership and immigration counsel ensuring prompt communication responses and adherence to deadlines
  • Conduct internal-driven audits and identify process improvement opportunities alongside HR management
  • Stay informed on related employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance; communicate with stakeholders as necessary

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience in a human resources, immigration administration, employee mobility or related office-based role
    • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR practices is a plus
    • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Skills:
    • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent communication and relationship building abilities
    • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Technology:
    • Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Work, PowerPoint, Excel)
    • Workday experience preferred
    • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire 
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Must be located in the Des Moines, IA area or relocating prior to starting (no relocation assistance provided)
