Spire Solutions is hiring a Procurement Division Manager to join our team in Des Moines, IA! The Procurement Division Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement process for construction project sites. In this role you will ensure materials arrive on time to meet contract obligations while coordinating with project teams, suppliers, and manufacturers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and delivery methods with suppliers and manufacturers
  • Manage purchase orders while evaluating project schedule and availability of materials to ensure timely delivery of materials
  • Evaluate and manage supplier performance to ensure contract and quality obligations are met; source and identify new suppliers if necessary
  • Participate in supplier database development, including creating supplier work statements and proposals, setting negotiation parameters, and establishing supplier strategy
  • Resolve escalated payment and/or material discrepancies
  • Oversee and review technical documentation, specifications, bid preparation, quote solicitation, submittals, and requests for quote (RFQ) packages
  • Collaborate with project team, logistics, and procurement team members to review and identify areas for improvement
  • Foster positive relationships with both internal and external parties
  • Lead, develop, and mentor team members


What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in a procurement function in a construction related industry
    • Lean principles experience is a plus
    • Industry related degree is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Skills:
    • Strong business acumen, tact, and relationship building skills
    • High level of initiative and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent leadership skills and comfortable with conflict resolution
    • Strong negotiation skills for negotiating cost and contract terms
    • Ability to implement efficient and effective procurement processes and procedures
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized
    • Flexibility to balance competing needs
    • Project management skills
  • Technology:
    • Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
    • Experience with Procore and Bluebeam is a plus
    • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
