Job Description:

Do you have a high attention to detail and accuracy? The Weitz Company is hiring an Accountant I to join our Accounts Payable team! The Accountant I will provide excellent customer service as you analyze statements, assist with month-end closing, and process payments. This is a great opportunity for someone early on in their accounting career!

What You’ll Do:

  • Review submitted tickets and respond to inquiries while providing excellent customer service
  • Verify statements from vendors confirming receipt of invoices and status of payments
  • Analyze bank statement activity; summarize daily reports for management
  • Scan physical invoices into the system for processing as needed
  • Enter vendors, subcontractors, customers, and job details into system and update addresses as needed
  • Obtain and confirm purchase card coding
  • Assist with month-end closing responsibilities
  • Field project team inquiries related to supplier/vendor payment status
  • Create payment groups, print checks and submit wire transfers, ACH, and credit card payments
  • Verify accurate ACH information for external customers
  • Close out work orders
  • Process daily and weekly assigned reports
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • 1+ years of experience with basic accounting in a professional setting (full-time, part-time, or as an intern)
    • Accounting, finance, or related degree is desired
  • Skills:
    • Analytical with a high level of accuracy
    • Organized and a strong attention to detail
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
    • Reliable and team-oriented
    • Flexibility to pivot priorities as needed
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technology:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
