RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management Full-Time

The Weitz Company is hiring a construction Assistant Project Manager to join our Florida team in Fort Lauderdale! The Assistant Project Manager collaborates with the Project Manager to profitably manage a small project or a specific scope of a larger project.

What You’ll Do:

  • Be involved in developing BIM (building information modeling) application and Project BIM Execution Plan (PxP)
  • Understand contract terms and obligations to ensure work in progress is within scope
  • Manage construction documents, drawings, requests for information (RFI) and submittals
  • Prepare inspections, compliance audits and the non-conformance log
  • Manage status and project logs (i.e. reports, submittals, RFIs)
  • Assist in reviewing the preconstruction, project planning, and buyout process
  • Manage scopes of work to be included in subcontracts agreements
  • Assist in approving contractor pay applications
  • Assist in completion of monthly project status reports (MPSR), owner billings, and financial risk assessments
  • Ensure contract agreements and amendments are executed
  • Track and negotiate contractor requests for change
  • Utilize virtual design tools to assist with project coordination
  • Facilitate regular project meetings; record and distribute meeting minutes as needed
  • Manage closeout information, punch list items, as-built drawings, and warranty process
  • Facilitate dispute resolution among contractors, vendors, architects and owners
  • Identify and propose value engineering and scope reduction opportunities
  • Assist with mentoring and providing development opportunities for team members

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience in construction project management
    • 5+ years of experience working on the Owner Rep, Builder, and/or Developer side of construction
    • Extensive BIM experience required
    • General contractor (GC) is a plus
    • An industry-related college degree is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
    • Knowledge and application of Lean principles
  • Skills:
    • Project management skills and commercial construction knowledge 
    • Strong negotiation and relationship building skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication 
    • Ability to make sound judgements and decisions
    • Analytical thinker with a high level of initiative 
    • Adaptable to meet the needs of the business and the client
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Technology:
    • Experience with BIM360, JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, P6 is a plus
    • Highly proficient with BIM
    • Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
    • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
