Senior Workers' Compensation Administrator

The Sr. Workers’ Compensation Administrator serves as the lead claims specialist for an assigned business unit responsible for facilitating workers’ compensation cases from incident through closure by providing subject matter expertise, analyzing claim trends and identifying prevention strategies. This role ensures timely reporting, compiling detailed documentation and effective coordination with internal stakeholders, medical providers, third party administrators and injured employees.

What You’ll Do:
- Lead end-to-end facilitation of workers’ compensation claims by tracking multi-state needs, varying deadlines and state-specific regulatory requirements
- Conduct thorough injury investigations by gathering facts, witness statements and site details for the reported injury or incident, in partnership with safety, as applicable
- Maintain complete and compliant claim documentation and files, including incident reports, medical records and communication logs, if applicable
- Partner with adjusters and medical providers to develop and monitor claim strategies, reserves and action plans to support timely resolution; escalate to management as needed
- Serve as primary contact with injured employees, ensuring clear communication, guidance on the claims process, support throughout treatment and return to work
- Coordinate medical appointments, work status updates and physician recommendations; support employee return-to-work, including transitional duty assignments, modified duty planning and communication to the applicable project team, as applicable
- Prepare claims reports, including active claims statuses and trend summaries for business unit and safety management review; proactively escalate identified potential risks to management
- Train business unit personnel on workers’ compensation reporting and documentation measures, preventative strategies, best practices and mitigation of risk
- Partner with business unit safety teams and workers’ compensation management to track workers’ compensation related OSHA reporting requirements, analyze incident trends and implement prevention strategies to reduce claims frequency and severity
- Ensure documents, investigation procedures, processes and deadlines meet local, state and federal laws and regulations of active claims
- Partner with other stakeholders (i.e. Human Resources, Legal and Risk) that may have subject matter expertise related to active claims
- Stay current on workers’ compensation laws and regulations, claims management technologies and industry trends and best practices; implement improvements to enhance processes and support preventative strategies
What We’re Looking For:
Education: An industry- or business-related bachelor’s degree is required. An equivalent combination of education, experience and related professional certifications will be considered.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of workers’ compensation claims administration, preferably in a high-risk industry (i.e. construction, manufacturing, utilities), ideally including experience with multi-state laws and processes.

Technology: Proficiency in basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Employees should have solid experience with PDF-writer, claims management system and standard business applications.
Skills: A qualified candidate will demonstrate tact, professionalism, firm judgment, empathy and communication skills while exhibiting business acumen, mentoring and decision-making abilities. This role should also effectively conduct investigations, identify and mitigate risk, prioritize active claims and have a high degree of self-motivation.
